Gmail provides a feature that let you check if your friends in your chat list are online from android mobile phone or not. As Android is registered trademark of Google Inc so they can provide this kind of feature for android mobile phones only.
So, Lets get started :
Usually when you come online on gmail, it will show your friends online status like this for all (even if your friend is online from Android mobile phone) :

Now, we will enable Gmail Lab that can recognise if person is online from android phone or not.
1. Login to your Gmail Account and select mail settings on top of right side.

2. Now, Go to Labs menu.

3. Scroll down and you will find a Lab “Green Robot” developed by Chad Y.

Just Enable that and scroll down to the bottom and Save Changes .
4. Now, it will show chat status of your friends online from android mobile phones like this :
